Dawn picks up an award for Franz Ferdinand

FRANZ FERDINAND capped an amazing year by being named our Entertainment Heroes, then they thanked Record staff and readers for their backing.

The boys couldn't make the ceremony because they are recording their second album, which is expected to be finished by the middle of April.

Earlier, presenters Jackie Bird and Tam Cowan had revealed the Franz boys could not pick up their award and had asked actress Dawn Steele to accept iton their behalf. But despite Tam's best efforts, Dawn refused to re-create her Celebrity Fame Academy performance in front of the crowd. Afterwards, a suspicious Dawn said: 'Are you sure they asked for me to pick this award up? I bet they don't know who I am.'
