The cancer care charity’s patron, Kirsty Wark, was joined by 300 high-profile guests, including Bridget McConnell, Dawn Steele and Andrew Fairlie, as she hosted the Maggie’s Glasgow Centre’s second annual dinner. Some of Scotland’s most prominent business people attended the glittering fundraiser to double the money raised last year. Scotland’s first female auctioneer and antique show Flog It presenter Anita Manning auctioned prizes including a portrait sitting with Anne Mackintosh, a signed Dr Who script, a tennis match with Kaye Adams, a cooking session with Andrew Fairlie and an adventure holiday to Canada. Wark said: “Thanks to fantastic food, great company and a spectacular venue, it was a very special evening which raised a phenomenal amount of money for a very worthwhile cause.” More than 21,000 people have visited Maggie’s Centre in Glasgow since it opened in the gatehouse of the Western Infirmary on Dumbarton Road in 2002.
